Cosmetic Dentistry

Invisalign | Hershey PAAt the office of Wesley R. Davis, DDS, we offer Invisalign clear braces as well as other cosmetic dentistry services that can address crooked and tilted teeth.

Using 3-D modeling and impressions taken of your teeth, the Invisalign lab creates a series of custom aligners designed to address your specific alignment problems.

What is Invisalign made of?

Invisalign clear aligners are made of smooth, FDA-approved plastic material that won’t irritate the sensitive tissue in your mouth. During the course of your treatment, these aligners will gradually move your teeth closer to the desired position.

You'll wear your aligners throughout the day, taking them out for eating or drinking. Because Invisalign aligners are clear and match the shape of your teeth, most people will never notice you're wearing them. You'll visit our Hershey dental office every six weeks or so for a checkup and new aligners.

Are there other options?

Other cosmetic services that can correct and conceal the appearance of crooked teeth are veneers and dental bonding. Since everyone’s needs are different, the way we approach every case will be different. Call our office today to make an appointment for a convenient consultation. At that time, we’ll evaluate your needs and work together to come up with the solution that’s just right for you.

Crowns & Bridges

dental crown | hershey paWhen you get dental crowns or bridges at our Hershey, PA dental office, you’re investing in your comfort and oral health. Protecting these restorations with good oral habits at home and routine dental visits will ensure that they give you many years of service.

What Dental Crowns and Bridges Do

Dental crowns and bridges both restore your appearance and chewing function. A crown is placed over a tooth to strengthen and protect it. A dental bridge replaces a missing tooth by filling the open space and relies on adjacent teeth for support.

When Hershey dentist Dr. Wes Davis designs your new dental crown or bridge, he uses only the highest-quality most durable materials like E-max and Bruxzir. Both are long-lasting, but your main concern should be the teeth under these restorations.

Protect Your Dental Crowns and Bridges

You should be brushing twice a day and flossing once anyway, but it’s especially important when you have a dental crown or bridge. If you develop gum disease or the tooth beneath it develops a cavity, you may have to replace the entire restoration.

Keeping your mouth healthy with excellent oral hygiene and six-month checkups at our Hershey dental office is the best way to protect your investment. At each visit, Dr. Davis will check your restorations to make sure they’re in good condition and monitor your teeth for signs of decay.

Call Us for a Dental Appointment

If you have dental crowns or bridges and want them to last as long as possible, please call us for a dental appointment.

dental implants | hershey paFixed dental bridges are a tooth replacement that has been used successfully for decades. Dental implants are a more recent innovation, but they also have a very high success rate.

You deserve choices, so we offer both dental implants and bridges at our Hershey, PA dental office. Both are excellent options, and each has pros and cons.

How Implants and Dental Bridges Work

A dental bridge replaces one or two missing teeth in the same area of your mouth. It uses an artificial tooth (pontic) to fill the open space; dental crowns on either side of the pontic are attached to adjacent teeth for support.

A dental implant is a standalone tooth replacement that uses a titanium post implanted in the jaw to take the place of the lost tooth root. After the implant post heals in the jaw, we attach a dental crown, bridge, or denture to it.

The Pros and Cons

A dental implant is a standalone tooth replacement, so we don’t need to involve any healthy teeth. When you care for a dental implant properly, it can give you a lifetime of service. But the drawback is that getting a dental implant can take six months or more.

Dental bridges are an excellent choice if you don’t want to wait months for a tooth replacement. The process for getting a bridge is less involved, so they are more affordable than dental implants. However, a dental bridge has a lifespan of about 15 years, and we will eventually need to replace it.

Call Us about Replacing That Missing Tooth

If you want to replace a missing tooth in Hershey, PA, please call us. We’ll schedule an appointment with Dr. Davis so he can explain your options and help you choose the one that’s right for your needs.

dental crown | hershey pa The tooth-colored material we use for dental fillings is very durable and stands up to years of wear and tear. But a filling can only support so much of your tooth, and when too much of the tooth is compromised, Dr. Davis would recommend a dental crown placed at our Hershey, PA dental office.

Dental Crowns vs. Dental Filings

Unlike a dental filling that sits inside your tooth, a crown is a tooth-shaped porcelain jacket that fits over the entire tooth. A dental crown absorbs much more chewing force than a filling, which makes it a perfect restoration to protect a damaged or weakened tooth.

Once your customized dental crown is in place, it restores lost function so you can chew on it just as you would a strong, healthy tooth.

Why We Would Recommend a Dental Crown

There are several reasons why Dr. Davis would recommend a dental crown:

  • A cavity is too large to be resolved with a filling
  • A broken tooth needs protection and support
  • A root canal has weakened the tooth
  • A dental implant needs a crown to restore function

Call Us to See if a Dental Crown Is Right for You

Not sure if you need a filling or a dental crown? Call our Hershey, PA dental office to arrange an appointment with Dr. Davis. He’ll be happy to evaluate your needs and determine which is right for you.

If Dr. Davis recommends a dental crown, a couple of things may be happening that require us to strengthen and reinforce a tooth with a durable restoration.

Dental Crown | Hershey PAWe use durable zirconia and eMax crowns to support a tooth that has been compromised in some way, and we use them to strengthen and protect teeth in the following cases:

  • When a tooth has too much decay to be fixed with a filling
  • To anchor a dental bridge to adjacent teeth
  • After implant placement to restore function and appearance
  • After root canal therapy to further protect and strengthen a tooth
  • Your bite is off and we need to restore its balance

Dr. Davis has placed thousands of dental crowns in Hummelstown and is well known for his durable, state-of-the-art restorations. He uses zirconia and eMax, two of the most durable materials used today to fabricate crowns.

If you think you might need a crown, please call our office to arrange a consultation. Dr. Davis will check to see what’s going on, make recommendations to resolve the problem, and help you decide if a crown is right for your needs.

Full & Partial Dentures

Full and Partial Dentures | Hershey This is a great question and one of the first we usually hear from patients who are considering dentures or partials. The answer is that our customized dentures are as close in appearance to real teeth as possible.

Many people have a negative reaction to dentures based on their parents’ or grandparents’ own experiences. But a lot has changed recently in modern dentistry, which gives us access to materials and technology that we never had before. During the planning process, we will consult with you every step of the way so you know you will be thrilled with the results.

What do you do to make them look natural?

We work with the highest quality custom dental labs in the country whose skilled technicians customize your dentures to our exact specifications:

  • The color of the acrylic base closely matches your gum color.
  • Artificial teeth are shaded to complement the color of your skin tone, eyes, and hair color.
  • Each artificial tooth is placed separately in the base to replicate the variations found in natural teeth.

The result is dentures that look so natural that no one will know they're not you're own unless you tell them.

If you are considering dentures and partials in Hershey, PA, please call the office of Wesley R. Davis DDS. We will arrange a consultation at your convenience so you can meet with Dr. Davis to discuss your goals for a healthier smile.

Snoring, Sleep Apnea & Teeth Grinding

Sleep Apnea | Hershey It may be embarrassing, but the truth is that almost all of us snore occasionally. You may snore because of certain medications, alcohol consumption, or being overweight. However, snoring all the time and having the sensation that you have to struggle to catch your breath during sleep indicates that you may be suffering from a medical condition referred to as Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).

What are the concerns?

OSA is serious and potentially life-threatening, and should be addressed as soon as possible. Studies have linked OSA to general health problems like high blood pressure and even strokes. However, in many cases, Dr. Davis can provide an appropriate solution that will allow you to finally get a good night’s rest.

Snoring isn’t always a sign that you have sleep apnea, but the possibility should be eliminated by your doctor. If your snoring is related to sleep apnea, you may be a good candidate for an oral appliance that will treat the problem safely and comfortably. In many cases, we can create a custom night guard that holds your jaw in a neutral position to minimize or eliminate snoring.

Is your snoring so loud and annoying that it keeps you and your partner awake at night? Please give us a call, and we’ll help you take the necessary steps to find the cause and determine the most appropriate solution.
