What Happens During An Extraction?
You just received the news that you need to have a tooth extracted, and you are feeling a little overwhelmed, to say the least. Suddenly you have a lot of things to consider – How will tooth loss affect your smile and your ability to interact with others? When the procedure is over, what tooth replacement will be right for you?
Turn to A Familiar Team for Help
Of course, the biggest question on your mind is probably about the extraction itself. There is no doubt that this is probably one of the more stressful dental procedures to anticipate. But you should know that it is especially times like these when you need to turn to a professional you know and trust. Feeling comfortable with your surroundings can play a big part in helping you easily get the care you need.
When we perform a tooth extraction at our Hershey dental office, we put your comfort first. We start by making sure you are comfortable and offering a warm blanket and pillow. A compassionate member of our team will be at your side throughout the procedure to offer support and a hand to hold. If you need a little more help to relax, Dr. Davis will write a prescription for a calming medication to take before the extraction.
Next, we will apply a topical anesthetic to numb your gums and an injection so you don’t feel any pain. When we know you are numb, Dr. Davis will gently and efficiently remove the tooth. We will provide you with post-procedure guidelines because protecting the extraction site for the first day or so is critical.
